The Atlanta United FC has won the MLS Cup, and in true Atlanta fashion by doing so in just their second year. The team owned by Arthur Blank and lead by coach Gerardo Martino earned the cup in a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers in the Major League Soccer championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A crowd of 73,019 watched Atlanta United bring home the first championship since the Atlanta Braves won the World Series in ’95. Now the city has two major professional sports championships.
